Books & Information Sources
If
researching the Pilon
family I know of several Pilon
books;
-
Genealogy and Family History of the Thomas
Bernard Pilon Family, by Robert Louis Pilon. This book deals primarily
with the author's Pilon line but it also contains a wealth of information
on all known Pilon lines.
-
Famille Pilon, Pesant, by Lionel D. Pesant.
-
Portraits de Familles Pionnieres, Nombre 2-Les Freres
Pilon, des Passionnes..., by Robert Revost.
-
Les Anciennes Familles du Quebec-Jean Baptiste
Pilon (l.c.), by Labatt Brasser Limited
If
researching other Quebec
French-Canadian families I
recommend;
-
Dictionnaire
Genealogique des Familles
Canadiennes,
by
Cyprien Tanguay. A standard reference tool covering nine volumes and
5,700 pages. Lists alphabetically by family name most of the more than
500,000 people's baptismal, marriage and burial records covering the period
1620-1780. In French but easy to
understand.
-
Dictionnaire genealogique des familles du Quebec
des origines a
1730.
A
wonderful online searchable reference of Quebec births and marriages up to
the year 1730.
-
Genealogical Institute of
Drouin.
Two volumes of marriage abstracts arranged aphabetically by family
name.
-
Dictionnaire Genealogique
des familles du
Quebec,
by Rene Jette. Similar to Tanquay's above, detailed marriages listed
aphabetically by family name.
If researching
Acadian French-Canadian families
I recommend;
-
Historie and Genealogie
des
Acadien,
by Bona Arsenault.
-
Acadian
Descendants,
by Janet Jehn.
