There were only three Pilon immigrants in 17th and 18th century North America.  All arrived in Canada from France in the 17th century. They were;

  • Jean Pilon.  The first to arrive in Canada but at what year is unknown.  Jean was listed in the 1666 census as living in the house of Jean Cusson at Cap-de-La-Madeleine near Trois Rivieres, Quebec.  Born in 1627 he was from Rouen, Normany in France. He is believed to have never married and there are no known descendants from him.

  • Jean-Baptiste dit LaFortune Pilon.  Arrived in Canada sometime before 1688.  Born in 1653 in St. Eustache de Paris, France, he was the son of Jean-Baptiste Pilon and Marie Roussel.  He married in Canada on March 1, 1688, in Repentigny, Quebec to Elizabeth Bertaut who was born January 23, 1659 in Trois Rivieres, Quebec and was the daughter of Jacques Bertault (Bretaut) and Gillette Bonne (Baune) who was twice widowed.  Jean-Baptiste and Elizabeth are the ancestors of approximately 10-20% of all North American Pilons.   • Antoine Pilon.  Arrived in Canada in 1687.  Son of Thomas, a butcher, and Madeleine Hugues of Epinette Street, near the crossroads of St. Patrick, a suburb of Bayeaux in Normandy, France.  Born in 1660 he married by contract to Marie-Anne Brunet, daughter of Mathieu and Marie Blanchard on January 20, 1689 in Montreal.  Antoine died in Pointe Claire, near Montreal, on February 22, 1715 at the age of 55. Antoine and Marie-Anne are the ancestors of 80-90% of all North American Pilons. They had 14 children;

    1. Jeanne born December 9, 1689.  Had nine children.  Died ?
