Early World Pilons
The earliest Pilons yet found (and
of no known relationship to the Pilons of Canada)
are;
-
Andre Pilon,
father
of Germain below. Born
c1494.
-
Germain

a famous 16th century sculptor. Born in c1524, he lived in
Paris.
-
Pillon du Coudray
de la Thillaye,
Normandy,
France, born 1525.
-
Anne Pillon,

France.
-
Anne
Pillon,
born c1587 in Metz,
Alsace-Lorraine, France.
This Non-French Pilon does have a
Canadian connection.
There is one known Canadian family that traces themselves back to
the Dutch Abraham Pilon below. This is Jacob Pilon and Saakje Kootstra
who immigrated from the Province of Groningen in the Netherlands, in
1952.
-
Abraham,
was
a "mogelijk chirurgijn of schoolmeester" (teacher of surgery?) in the Province
of Groningen in the Netherlands, born ~1620. Abraham may have been
a Hugenot that crossed over the border from
France.
These Pilons are entered in the baptismal
records of the St. Patrice Church, Normandy, France. This is the church
of Antoine Pillon, the immigrating ancestor of most North American
Pilons.

Canadians).
