Hello Fellow Collector,
I've been an avid newspaper reader since I was
a child. When young I took great delight when my travelling parents
would bring home newspapers from the different cities they visited. As
an adult I also became an avid historian. Combining the two led me to antique
newspaper collecting. I have now been collecting paper history for
the last 23 years. At first it was 19th century newspapers. I
was amazed, and still am, at how inexpensive they were. I marvelled
at the glimpses of long ago life that jumped out from the pages. This
was not the dry history that childhood class taught. History, and the
people who lived it, now had meaning.
Shortly thereafter I branched out into some of
the other many antique paper fields. This included;
-
- Historical documents.
- Banks cheques with their beautiful engravings, often of banks long gone.
- Personal letters that add realism and passion.
- Commercial letterheads with character, now missing.
- Maps of lands newly visited and not yet understood.
- Incubulla, book leaves from the very first century of the printing press!
- Antique books, learn what they learned!
- etc
-
You can hold in your hands first hand accounts of such history as;
-
- US Civil War battles.
- The invention of the steam train.
- Slave ads depicting for sale and runaway slaves.
- French and Indian Wars.
- The Wild West.
-
Paper history is a time machine that allows you
to sense the emotion of the past unlike any other medium. Today I offer
the excitement to you hoping that you too will see the joy that I still do
some 23 years after I first experienced it. Please enjoy my
offerings.
